Forget your run-of-the-mill Halloween pumpkin carvings, these incredible designs by American sculptor Ray Villafane have taken the annual ghoul-fest tradition to a different artistic level.
Using his background in high art and his work in designing models for D.C and Marvel comics, Ray, 39, has sculpted intricate faces out of the common pumpkin that make your hair stand on end.

I found the most delightful little website today, Pumpkin Carving 101.
It appears to be written by a member of a family that simply enjoys pumpkins. They offer some fantastic tips on pumpkin carving, tools, stencils, patterns, and even some history on how pumpkins came to be carved into jack-o-lanterns.
Be sure to read about their tradition of burying their jack-o-lanterns in the backyard the day after Halloween.
